Whether you’re a seasoned walker or just looking for a unique adventure, this 58-mile pilgrimage in Orkney follows the story of St Magnus for an unforgettable experience.
What is the St Magnus Way?
The St Magnus Way is a long-distance walking route inspired by the life and legacy of Orkney’s patron saint, St Magnus Erlendsson. It is made up of six main sections incorporating rough coastal walking, inland track and road walking, hill climbing and even a short forest walk.
Not only will you have the opportunity to experience Orkney’s beautiful sites and countryside, the walk also incorporates sites that play a major part in the St Magnus story. The walk begins in Egilsay, where St Magnus was martyred, and ends in Kirkwall at St Magnus Cathedral, where his remains lie.
